Sometimes we can't get there in time to rescue them from the hardships of their past, but we are there to love and care for them for the rest of their days on earth. Until we meet again...

Gilligan (Gill)

Picture

Gilligan came to us 4 years ago. He had been chained up & left to starve to death. He broke all his teeth to set himself free. The video of him staggering down the streets of Fresno looking for scraps of food went viral. We saw them & immediately got him.
While nursing him back to health he went lame. We rushed him in for emergency spinal surgery. I sold my truck & dirt bikes to get him surgery. We didn't have time to fundraise.

He never walked again. But that never broke his spirit. He got a wheelchair. He scoots all over the house. He cuddles with his brothers Hogan & Cosmo daily. I sleep in the living room so we are all close to him. For the past 4 years I have expressed his bladder since he cannot. He gets daily meds, fluids, snacks, cuddles, diaper changes, fresh bedding... he still scoots after me & his foster siblings. He still opens Amazon Boxes I leave by the door & steals treats.

On August 18, 2022, Gilligan passed away at home with his mom and foster siblings. He was loved until his last breath. Run free, sweet Gill.

"Pit Crew Sacramento Rescue is run solely by volunteers. We all work full time regular jobs. We all have our own individual lives and responsibilities. We choose to dedicate much of our time and effort to what we are most passionate about, Pit Bull Rescue. With that in mind, please note that we are almost always behind. Rescue never sleeps and we wear many hats. There are also few of us who manage the entire back office workload so we ask that you kindly remain patient as it may take up to two weeks to receive a response on your application. Please also note that while this is the first step, we review each and every word very closely. We do not accept incomplete applications or one-word responses. We expect our serious adopters to take our application seriously as well. Please do not expect a call to clarify any of your responses. We will respond via email if we have further questions to clarify any of your responses. However we also will not honor applications that appear to have been given little thought and effort. We take our adoption process very seriously, and we have a genuine, vetted interest in the wellbeing of every single life we save. Thank you for your understanding and your continued patience. If an adopter is being impulsive obtaining a dog, they likely will not be tolerant of our several step screening process, which is designed as such.

Thank You,
