Foster Diary:

June 15, 2023

Oliver has been doing good, he got to go on a little weekend trip where he got to be the cutest camping doggo!

May 25, 2023

Oliver is doing well and enjoying his week just relaxing! Everything is going well as far as health is concerned!

May 18, 2023

Oliver is doing good, enjoying his evenings outside now that its getting hotter. His skin and ears are looking good and nothing new has emerged on his skin. Just being his cute, playful self!

May 11, 2023

Oliver has been his usual self! His previous masses have all disappeared, with only a few lumps (under the skin & pea sized) showing up elsewhere. He's just his spunky little self!

May 4, 2023
No more lumps appearing anywhere. He has been enjoying the cool weather and all the new snacks he received from this donation! Just kicking cancers ass per usual!

April 13, 2023
Oliver is still loving life, zooming around and taking his much needed naps on the couch afterwards.

March 30, 2023
Ollie is doing good, his sores seem to be doing okay! He's been a sleepy but active boy loving life!

 **2022**

May 29, 2022
This week Ollie went for his first little camping trip for a few days! He enjoyed the drive to the coast, exploring the area and checking out the misty ocean. He's loving just relaxing on the couch now and going about his daily routine.

May 15, 2022
Oliver loves his naps, car rides, couch time & also the occasional zoomies! He requires so little. He just wants to be loved.

April 17, 2022

This past week was a huge week for Oliver! Since getting him he's been so reluctant to go into crowded areas. He met a new bff and since they've been friends Oliver has the courage to go on walks around people, go new places and even go into pet stores! I joke that he has an emotional support dog now. He even went out to eat with my BF and I and he did amazing and wasn't scared a single time! Other than that he's just been a couch potato hanging out with the roomies doggos!

**See below to see his beginnings at Pit Crew Rescue**

Oliver is as sweet as he is adorable! After several months under our Behavioral Assessment Hold & Medical Hold, he was finally cleared on both. He had 6 punch biopsies done & to all of our surprise, they all came back benign. As it turns out Oliver has solar dermatitis from living a life of neglect outdoors. However, the masses came back and after more testing, he has been diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma.

Oliver will have to be monitored closely to ensure this condition will not worsen suddenly, as it can be deadly, and we feel the medical expenses related to mass removal and close watch on him will be too costly to burden an adopter with. Despite this, we've got our couch potato for life and we will do everything to support him! He is now with a wonderful foster hospice who will take him to all appointments and events and help us to give him the best care.

Oliver is like a bump on a pickle. The bump being Oliver, the pickle being the couch or bed inside the AC. Which as it turns out, is PERFECT because he cannot be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods of time. In fact, he has to be coaxed outside to go potty then comes right back in.
Every now & again we see his silly side which consists of about 2.3 seconds of a hop/zoomie & we all laugh hysterically. He does have a stubborn streak and is known for putting on the brakes when he does not want to go somewhere. Oliver really is the funniest bestest boy ever!

Oliver CAN go outside, he wears doggie sunscreen & doggie onesies if necessary. His ongoing protection from the sun is quite easy.

Oliver came to us from Riverside County Shelter after he was labeled rescue only for Medical reasons. He had open lesions. His ears were infected & swollen shut. And yet, he was still all tail wags & sweetness at the shelter. His videos went viral and when we called the shelter to place a hold, we were told he had 13 local rescues who had expressed interest, so we moved on.

Fast forward a week later & we saw his pleas still circulating. We called the shelter and every rescue who expressed interest had backed out. So we hustled to contact our rescue friends in SoCal. We had a local rescue with pull rights tag him so he was not destroyed. Then we put out a plea & found a volunteer to transport him. Thanks to everyone involved we were able to save his life and in turn, he has made all of ours better.

"Pit Crew Sacramento Rescue is run solely by volunteers. We all work full time regular jobs. We all have our own individual lives and responsibilities. We choose to dedicate much of our time and effort to what we are most passionate about, Pit Bull Rescue. With that in mind, please note that we are almost always behind. Rescue never sleeps and we wear many hats. There are also few of us who manage the entire back office workload so we ask that you kindly remain patient as it may take up to two weeks to receive a response on your application. Please also note that while this is the first step, we review each and every word very closely. We do not accept incomplete applications or one-word responses. We expect our serious adopters to take our application seriously as well. Please do not expect a call to clarify any of your responses. We will respond via email if we have further questions to clarify any of your responses. However we also will not honor applications that appear to have been given little thought and effort. We take our adoption process very seriously, and we have a genuine, vetted interest in the wellbeing of every single life we save. Thank you for your understanding and your continued patience. If an adopter is being impulsive obtaining a dog, they likely will not be tolerant of our several step screening process, which is designed as such.

Thank You,
