Meet Muffin
Miss Muffin had been with us for over 2 years now. She is waiting patiently for her forever home. She in very interested in other dogs, but sometimes her size can be intimidating. She would greatly benefit from going to a Board and Train Facility, if you don't think she is the right fit for you, but you would still love to see this sweet girl flourish, consider sponsoring her so she can be the best dog possible! <3

**NEW RESCUE**
Welcome to PCS Muffin!
This week we received a message about an injured Pit Bull who had been living near a creek next to some boarding stables in Sacramento off Longview. We were on scene within the hour to see if we can find her, but no such luck. Later that evening 3 of us met back there and began the search. I knew that she was there...somewhere. Being that she is injured, she is likely hiding and watching our every move. So we walked around the miles of creek trail bordering the empty creek that fell about 50 feet straight down and there...in a hollowed out tree stump laying on it's side, there she was! Curled up in a ball, growling pretty heavily under her breath. She was not happy to have company, but who could blame her?! She had been surviving alone out there for lord knows how long. She was probably living off trash and cat food that was left out for the stray cats at the stables. She had a severe injury to her right front leg, possibly broken. She was scared. Scared and alone.
We took our time tossing her treats...nothing. We got closer....she moved, not putting any weight on her injured paw, she stumbled about terrified of the visitors and our intentions.
We quickly realized we would have to catch her more aggressively to keep her from further injuring herself by trying to run/struggle to get away. This was no easy task as we didn't have time to get a catchpole and the appropriate equipment we needed since we rushed to the scene after work to avoid losing sunlight. We ran and grabbed a crate out of the car. One of our members had a fishing contraption we used to loop her at a distance and hold her in place. However the pole was collapsible so it went from 10 feet long to 3 feet the second she pushed back on it. Now she is merely feet away from us, snappong, growling and ready to attack, better yet, TRYING to attack! So we quickly made a slip need with a basic leash and looped her from the opposite side. So now if she lunged at Robert, I pulled her back by the leash, if she lunged at me, he pulled her back with the horrible equipment we had the bright idea to use 😱 We looked at eachother and realized we didn't have a choice, if we let her go she would get one of us so we HAD to get her in that crate NOW. With one swift push and immense struggle by her, we got her about halfway into the crate and by lifting the front and tilting it back, she fell to the back of the crate and couldn't get out... just as we slammed the door and locked it, I lost my footing on the hillside and fell, almost taking the crate with me. Luckily Robert had a handle on it so she was safe in the crate and after a few seconds of heart palpitations I climbed back up, ha.
Phew!! That was TOO close, AGAIN. We each grabbed a side of the crate and carried her the long trail walk back to our cars.
She was safe.
We could breathe again knowing she was safely in our care and we would get her the medical care she needs...well maybe after a couple of days to de-stress from the traumatic event.
We hoped that she would relax and begin to trust us in a week or so...but true to Pit Bull nature, she was eating out of our hands and kissing us through her new enclosure and safe at a foster home, just hours of getting her settled in. The next morning she came out and kissed me all over and sat in my lap, boy that was a fast turnaround time from aggression to affection and gratitude!!! Surprised? Heck No! Typical for this big, goofy, lovable breed❤
Thankfully now we can get her to a vet and examined sooner! She is in immense pain and having gone untreated for at least 2 months that we know about, who knows how severe her injuries are.
She is scheduled for today at 2:30pm, since it just cannot wait for fundraising so EVERYONE PLEASE DONATE and contribute to this adorable girls medical care. We need your help! If you can cover her entire visit, please contact us and we will have you deal directly with the vets office. If you can't cover all her xrays, visit and whatever testing they decide to do, PLEASE consider making a donation, small or big, every penny counts. We have 20 puppies under 3 months that all need shots and spay and neuter so we would have to rob Peter to pay Paul, if you will, to make ends meet and get her the medical care that she needs. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE and make a donation.
Remember if you would like to make a sizable donation, you may do so directly to our vet, please private message us for details. All donations are tax deductible and every penny will go towards the medical care of this rescue, or "Muffin" as we've decided to call her. She appears to be Mastiff/Pit mix, no more than a year old with a big old block head, jowels that hang down inches past her chin, giant paws (although possibly broken) and a bit underweight...she is absolutely gorgeous and we cannot wait to get to know her personality better and share her with all of You! We anticipate she will cost us at least $1500 without surgery, so if she needs surgery and aftercare, we will continue with fundraising.

🍩CHECK OUT MUFFIN!! 🍩
Remember the vicious, injured Pit Bull that was reported to us off Longview in Sac?? Remember the story about her rescue mission and the difficult time we had capturing her to get her to safety?!! Well, check her out today!
In true Pit form, she is a giant love bug with nothing less than all the gratitude in the world for her guardian angels. She has been seen by the vet and has a very large break in her right elbow that has been broken for several months 😢 and due to the difficulty of the operation the existing scar tissue will create, we are off to have her examined by the wonderful Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Walsh (the same surgeon who operated on Happy-Howie). The vet thinks she was hit by a car.... how could you hit a dog and then not stop to make sure she is OK or call Animal Services?! Instead leave her to suffer alone and scared while trying to survive against coyotes and mountain lions that come down near the horse stables at night?!
It breaks our heart that this adorable sweetheart has suffered so much pain and yet she is still as happy as can be and so affectionate with everyone she meets. Please keep an eye out for her surgery fundraising once we get her estimate, we will have it all posted online so we can get as much help from our supporters as possible. We didn't plan to rescue her, but then, when do we ever REALLY plan any of our rescues?! hah! Either way, she is a PCS dog now so we will need your help!
We will also be looking for a quiet foster home where she can be on crate rest for several weeks post-op. She has proven to be amazing in her crate training and just loves to be near her people. SO if you've been waiting for a medical foster who just needs a warm, safe crate to lay her head while she heals... here is your chance!
Our current foster homes have multiple crate and rotate dogs already, which will be too much for Muffin when she needs to just rest. So a home with a single dog or two would be ideal. Not too much temptation to get up and play 😁 She has said hello to an entire litter of puppies, and a few adult dogs through her crate and just play-bowed and whined to join them. We have seen no aggression with other dogs but we also will not be allowing her to interact with them without the barrier as she is extremely injured and may feel vulnerable. So polite hellos as she passes by is all she will get for now. :)
If you are kind enough and have room in your heart for this sweet angel, please complete a foster app ASAP!

💜💜💜MUFFIN POST-OP PROGRESS💜💜💜
Muffin came to Pit Crew as a stray, malnourished, injured, and unloved. She had likely been hit by a car and left to die. Her elbow had been severely broken, since she had been left to fend for herself her injury healed incorrectly.
After her corrective surgery Muffin is running, jumping, and loving life!! She is adoptable now and ready for a family/person to call her own. She is just a huge puppy with tons of energy and now, has the capacity to be a crazy lovebug ❤️
Your donations are to thank for allowing her a second chance. We couldn't do it without you and we appreciate every dollar immensely, we know Miss Muffin appreciates it too! Just look how happy she is!!!😊
