My Diary
These sweet souls had a terrible start to life. Coco is PCS Alumni Teddy's mom and they were both surrendered to the shelter by their "owner" for barking too much in the backyard. They were outside dogs and never stepped foot in a home or had a family to love them the way they deserve to be loved. Coco & Teddy were in the WORST condition. They both had 3rd degree skin infections all over their little hairless, bleeding and puss-filled bodies. We could just vomit from the stench of them! Coco had a tumor the size of an apple hanging off her from leg. HOW could someone let their dogs get to such a horrible state? Well when all you do is breed them and sell their puppies, then you don't have much room for anything else. It appears that Coco was a breeding female and Teddy was her son that the family decided to keep from perhaps her last litter or maybe he wasn't good enough to sell. Well we say he is too good. Coco is about 4 and Teddy is around 2 years young we think. Teddy's skin was so bad, we couldn't even pet him when he first arrived. He was oozing from every little wrinkle and fold on his tiny little stalky legs :( At first, we thought they HAD to have demodectic mange. But after two skin scrapings, they came up negative. So you mean to tell us that these two got to THIS condition from just mere neglect?? SHAME ON YOU! We cannot imagine how they even survived this long.... Both dogs had the worst ear infections we have ever seen OR smelled.
The moment these two arrived to us, we opened the car door to the transporter and they both greeted us with full body wags and slobbery kisses.... It simply broke our hearts into a million pieces. Even in this condition they still love humans, even though our kind did this to them... they hold no grudges and still offer their entire hearts to us. We love them already and we won't let another soul hurt them like this again.
These people attempted to crop Teddy's ears but they must have done it while he was wide awake because they only sliced about 3/4's of the way. That's right, he has one ear that is almost cut completely off. Our prediction is that their scissors or knife slipped when he tried to jerk away and they slashed his cheek. He has a little scar on his face now but there isn't a day that goes by that we don't kiss him all over his big, beautiful face now. At first we thought that the rolls on their legs were due to the demodex which is known to cause a loss of elasticity in skin, but since we realized they got to this level through neglect and poor environment alone, we are thrilled to find out that they will always have literally rolls of skin on their little legs. These poor babies stand about 18-22" tall, they are TINY! We think they are "American Bullies," a man-made cross between a bulldog breed and a American Staffordshire. Whatever they are, they are AMAZING! Their surrender paperwork stated that they "bark too much." Well after seeing their condition, we have determined why. They were clearly locked up in an outdoor kennel with no room to run and stretch their legs and they were bored out of their minds. How do we know, you ask? Their nails had clearly never been cut and were about an inch+ long and had started to grow and cross over one another. They could barely even walk. Had they had room to run and play, their nails would have filed down to a certain degree naturally by running on a hard surface. These two never had any sort of life and now we are determined to find the BEST families for them.
Teddy and Coco love kids! These two have stolen our hearts in just 3 short weeks, not to mention the hearts of every single person they meet. Teddy is a giant teddy bear and super lazy, not to mention everything he does is in slow motion. We JUST LOVE HIM. He is such a dope and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is super sweet and calm and greets everyone and everything he meets with tail wags and kisses. He gets along great with other dogs and we ADORE him. Coco is a bit more assertive but not by much. Coco has a bit more energy and she likes to be ahead of Teddy in everything, ha! Coco needs proper introductions and she does great with other dogs as well. We would love to keep these two together but at the same time, Coco tends to take the limelight and Teddy so deserves all the love of a family to himself :) if you would like to meet either of them, please go fill an adoption application. Teddy and Coco are still getting TLC for their skin but we are accepting adoption applications for them and they will be ready to go to their new homes soon! BTW they have yet to make a PEEP while in their foster home. "Barked all the time" my butt!
Diary Entry 2
Here is a video and pics of Coco getting her ears cleaned after her medicated bath. She and Teddy get baths 3 times a week still. Their skin is drastically improving but it's still far from healed. Coco has cropped ears which make her super susceptible to ear infections so it's very important they are cleaned regularly. She makes the best snorting sound too!!! If interested in meeting Coco please go fill an adoption application.
Diary Entry 3
Coco and Teddy have both been spayed and neutered now. The vet said that their ear infections were so bad, she is certain they couldn't hear anything! The vet also said that they might be lightheaded for the next week now that their cleaned out their ears while they were under anesthesia. WOW. We had no clue it was that bad...poor babies. We had the tumor removed from Coco and tested and luckily it was benign. She has several little skin tags here and there, but this is pretty common among bully breeds so we weren't concerned about them to begin with. If any grow or change in color, they should be removed and that's that. Both dogs skin is improving with each passing day. We feel so bad for Teddy, he was far worse and he is so itchy he is just miserable. We cover him with topical anti-itch solutions daily and give him benadryl, but it doesn't seem to help much. He is healing and will have to be uncomfortable for a little while longer...hang in there big boy, you will feel better soon!
Diary Entry 4
"Teddy and Coco are the BEST dogs! They are very different but amazing in their own ways. Coco loves attention and she will go with you everywhere. Teddy is a little slower and tries to keep up but he's such a little slug he is always a few feet behind the rest of us :) Teddy will come over and gently sit on your lap and give you gentle kisses on your face. He is such a warm, gentle soul. We cannot imagine someone intentionally neglecting these two love-bugs. They are simply wonderful and we are lucky to have them with us. Coco's skin is healing nicely and her fur is almost completely grown back on her legs and tummy. She is still a little dry so we continue with her medicated baths, antibiotics, vitamin E oil, coconut oil, salmon oil and Pacific Whitefish food. Teddy's skin is far better then it was but he still has a ways to go :( his skin was much worse so we are not surprised his infections are taking a little longer to treat. He gets all of the above as well and we can tell he is feeling much better now too. He has some PEP in his step! We are not kidding either, Teddy has the most adorable little trot when we take him on walks his little tooshie bounces up and down and right to left with every step. It is PRECIOUS!!! We can't take them on daily walks just yet because their paws are still pretty raw and Coco's nails bleed every single time we take her on a short walk. So we limit their walks to twice a week and boy are they great on leash! They love to walk side by side and their little butts bounce in sync and it's the cutest thing you have ever seen. I laugh the entire walk because they are so darn cute!!!! Whomever adopts one of these dogs, is going to have to be amazing....they absolutely deserve the very best in life and we will make sure of it!"
Diary Entry 5 **We need your help!**
Teddy and Coco came to us from a backyard breeder, with severe ear infections and third-degree skin infections that left them hairless, bleeding, and covered in pus-filled wounds. After several skin scrapings, it was determined that these infections were NOT the result of demodectic mange as initially suspected, but rather from years of neglect. Both were prescribed multiple antibiotics, and were immediately put on a regimen of medicated baths, Vitamin E, coconut oil, and salmon oil.
Although Teddy’s and Coco’s conditions have improved over the past weeks and they’ve finally started to regrow some fur, their progress has plateaued, and current treatments and medications no longer seem to be making a significant difference. Teddy especially is still SO itchy and uncomfortable – he can hardly take a step or sit for a minute without stopping to scratch, and the scratching is so constant and his skin is still so raw that he makes himself bleed.
In addition to continuing their baths and topical treatments, both dogs will need to start new antibiotics, and Teddy will need to be seen by a dermatologist as the vet has determined that his condition is beyond any regular treatment that they can provide.
In spite of everything that Teddy and Coco have been through, these two are total love bugs who deserve the BEST forever families, and we want to make sure that they get all healed up before they go! Unfortunately the cost of the required appointments and treatments is excessive. Please spread the word, and if you would like to contribute to offset the cost of their continuing medical care, you can make a donation through the "Donate Now!" link at the top of our page, or by clicking here:

Teddy Bear and his Mamma Coco having a little wrestling match at their weekly Dermatologist appt. Things aren't looking great for Coco as she's also been diagnosed with a Staph Infection and open wounds from all the itching. We take her back Friday to determine her culture results so we can come up with a treatement plan. These two angels have already cost PCS thousands and they continue to suck our pockets dry. With all the medical cases we take on, we haven't had much time to hold fundraising events so we need your help to reach our financial goal in order to continue to give Teddy and Coco the medical attention they require. Please go to their campaign to make a contribution.

Diary Entry 7
Poor Coco is still in horrible shape! This gorgeous girl has had such a bad life but she continues to love humans and appreciate all the attention she gets. It's just breaks our hearts to see her in such bad shape physically but it will take months for her Staph Infection to get under control and her skin to heal and her fur to grow back in. Coco was used as a backyard breeder and when they were done with her, they dumped her at a shelter and called it a day. Coco is pint sized and has the most adorable skin folds on her legs. We know some of that is due to her being so swollen, but like we say with her son Teddy, the skin rolls are there even after they are all healed up! Coco is part piggy, well she must be! She snorts all day long, everyday and we absolutely LOVE it! Coco could use your help, she and Teddy combined have cost us about 7k to date and their care continues. Your contributions mean everything. Both dogs receive medication, bleach dips, a special diet and more. To purchase supplies to send for their continued care, please see our Amazon Wishlist here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/R7R2WX2SKRE4
You can make a contribution to their vet care (we will post all invoices after care from the dermatologist) go to their care campaign:

You may also call and donate to the vet directly: Animal Dermatology & Allergy, 5175 Pacific St. #B, Rocklin, Ca 95677. 916-632-2400.
Diary Entry 8
Coco is doing much better! Her fur has grown in, her staph infection is gone and she is feeling like a million bucks! Both Coco and her son Teddy will need to remain on allergy medication for the rest of their lives. These two are worth every penny we have spent on them, which totals close to 7k to date. We continue to ask for donations for their care, as their medication costs about $200 a month each. Our hope is that we find them loving homes that can afford to continue their medication. Looking forward it may cost between $60- $200 a month depending on which route the owner decides to take. There are variations of treatment such as weekly allergy shots, different prescriptions, etc. Teddy and Coco are squatty, loving dogs who absolutely adore humans despite the torture, abuse and neglect our kind has inflicted on them until now.

Miss Coco is doing great! Her fur is almost 100% grown in and she feels like her happy, snorty self! Coco loves to play with her foster brother Cosmo and her favorite thing in the whole wide world is cuddling on the couch and watching tv. Second to that she absolutely loves her daily walk. Coco is pint sized and just a breeze to walk. She has the best snort-like gargoyle sounds too! Coco is just a sweet, happy little munchkin and would love a family all her own to give her tons of hugs and kisses. She is fully crate trained, house broken and does great on leash. No doubt due to her tough past, Coco prefers to meet new dogs properly and slowly but she's taken to both males and females once she has gotten settled in to her foster home. Coco loves the car and would be a great little dog to take everywhere with you! Have lots of love to give? Coco is your gal!

Have you ever seen anything sweeter???? Our poor little Coco praying for a forever home soon... the cold weather makes her skin extremely red, especially since we just had our weekly medicated bath at Pet Food Express in Roseville before a little retail therapy! Coco picked out a new winter coat!
#11
Coco has done a 180 the past couple weeks. Her skin is looking good and a fun loving personality has emerged. Coco has been playing with her foster brother Junior, this a new side to her and let me tell you it's so fun to watch her be happy. Coco is crate trained, on a regular feeding and bathroom schedule, easy to bathe weekly and takes her allergy meds with no problem. Small price for unconditional love.

Poor, sweet Coco has been waiting patiently for over a year for her family to come. Coco is Teddy's mom. The two of them were dumped at Contra Costa Animal Services when their "family" was done breeding her over, and over, and over....both Teddy and Coco had the worst skin issues we'd ever seen. And we specialize in them! They were so severely neglected that Coco had tumors the size of tennis balls hanging off her (tested and benign), they were so badly cared for that they were covered in staph infections and their smell alone made us sick. Literally, we could not sit in a car with them upon pickup from the shelter. Coco is as sweet as can be. She does great with other males dogs once properly introduced but she would prefer to be the HBIC (Head Bitch In Charge) in her home. She has the best snorts and full-body wiggle butt! She would make an excellent family pet and does great with kids. The only downfall is that her past still haunts her when it comes to her skin. She will likely need to stay on medicine for the rest of her life to keep her comfortable. Trust me, we've tried EVERYTHING, THOUSANDS of dollars worth, and nothing seems to work. So it's a small price to pay to give her a new life and a happy ending that she deserves. Her medication can cost about $150 a month and she is on The Honest Kitchen Freeze Dried Raw dog food, which is about $85 per 40lbs. If you're interested in meeting our own little baby hippo/Piglet visit pitcrew.org for an adoption application. If Coco isn't the right fit for you, but you'd like to contribute to her in some way, checkout our Amazon Wishlist. The food she needs and her Topical care solutions are on there as well. And if you'd like to help her by sponsoring her medication for a month or two, private message us and we can arrange that too. We could always use the help, we promised her long ago that we wouldn't let anyone ever hurt her or neglect her ever again.

Well who woulda thunk it?! Coco doesn't dislike female dogs afterall!! Wohooooo!! Coco was used for backyard breeding and then was dumped at the shelter in the WORST condition. She has come a long way to have a clear bill of health, around 9 months of regular treatments, close to 7 thousand dollars between her and her son Teddy, and 2 foster homes. BUT she is worth it! Coco has a loving, goofy personality. She snorts almost 24/7. She sounds like a piglet and she is shaped like one too😁 at about 9 inches tall, she is tiny!! The perfect little pocket sized Bully. Did we mention she snorts all the time?! Coco will likely remain on Apoquil for her chronic allergies for the rest of her life. She is already 5 years old so we want to find her a loving home that will give her the most amazing second half of her life and the family she's always dreamed of. Coco is amazing with kids and she would do best in a home with male dogs, but she has accepted Porsha after several weeks and very slow introductions. She does however play with Cosmo and the other boys around:)
If you would like to show Coco that humans are not all cruel, and give her the happy ending she dreams of every night...complete an adoption application.
If you'd like to help Coco in another way, we could definitely use the food she needs (The Honest Kitchen food and Zyrtec allergy medicine, which are listed on our Amazon Wishlist here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ls/ref=…
or contributions towards her continued medical expenses including her prescription medicine by donating here:

🌻FOSTER UPDATE COCO AKA COCO-BEAN🌻
Coco is such a sweetheart!!! She and her son Teddy have been in our rescue for over a year and we ABSOLUTELY love the both of them. Many of you know Teddy, he is kind of a big deal 😉
But Coco sadly hasn't gotten as much of the spotlight, at no fault of her own. Coco was a backyard breeding machine. She and Teddy were dumped at the shelter after her people were done breeding her. She was in horrible condition. She had the worst skin allergies we have ever seen, and left untreated, she was covered in staph infections and giant tennisball size tumors. All of which we've had removed and tested benign. Fast forward, Coco is doing great health wise. She is on a great food thanks to Pet Food Express and takes medication daily to keep her skin and allergies comfortable. Unfortunately not many people have shown interest in her since she needs this prescriotion medicine, but we know her family is out there somewhere....Coco would make an AMAZING family pet. She would be great with another male but she has gotten use to Foster sister Porsha after several months and the two of them have a healthy respect for eachother and basically just ignore eachother, hah! Coco would love kids to play with and to do tricks for. She is highly food motivated and can be taught just about anything! She loves her walks on leash around the neighborhood and the great thing is, she's so small anyone can just pick her up if an irresponsible owner's off leash dog runs up! Trust me, it's happened before 😁 She is only about 35lbs and sits about 14 inches tall. She's tiny!! She has the absolute BEST booty shake when she walks and it keeps her foster mom laughing hysterically on their evening strolls 😁 Coco is so special....She's been through so much already....do you know the lucky family who will be able to love and provide for her as we have for the remainder of her time with us?? Please SHARE our sweet Coco-Bean, she will no doubt snort her way into anyone's heart that crosses her path 🐷💘🐷
Here she is with Teddy after their monthly medicated bath and coconut oil massage😍
If you have any questions or you think Coco might be a good fit for you, go to pitcrew.org and complete an adoption application today!

🎀FOSTER UPDATE🎀
Miss Coco is doing fantastic!! Her skin is back under control and she is as happy as can be. Coco came to PCS over a year ago with her son Teddy after her owners were done breeding her and dumped her at the shelter in the worst condition you can imagine. 😢 But that hasn't stopped her! Coco is a happy, wiggly butt gal who would make an excellent family pet and adores kids!! She's great with male dogs and even accepts some females, as long as they are calm and she gets to be the party girl of the house. 😁
PLEASE SHARE COCO AND HELP US FINALLY GIVE HER THE HAPPY ENDING SHE SO DESERVES!!
#16 Foster Update:
Poor Coco... she has been waiting for over a year for someone to pick her. Coco had a terrible start to life but has come leaps and bounds in PCS and she couldn't be sweeter if she tried! Coco would make an amazing family dog and would love all the attention to herself or a male counterpart :) she suffers from extreme chronic allergies and will remain on her medication for the rest of her life in addition to Honest Kitchen freeze dried dog food, which she LOVES❤❤ PLEASE SHARE COCO and help her find her happy ending!! She snorts 24/7 and she is a tiny bully with the cutest butt wiggle! She is great on leash, house trained, crate trained and adores everyone and children!

Poor Coco has been patiently waiting for TWO YEARS for somebody to choose her, at no fault of her own. Coco was a backyard breeding machine. She had benign tumors the size of tennis balls hanging off her body... it took us a year to finally stabilize her allergies and get her healthy and comfortable. Then sadly nobody showed her any interest... we thought maybe it was because her medication was too espensive?? So we tried to lower her dose and within days she flared up and had an all over staph infection. She was miserable! So we decided that we couldn't put her through anymore experimental doses to lessen the costs of her medications💔🐾. Instead we shopped around and found the most affordable way to get her medication and now we're happy to report that it only costs about $45 a month!!! With that now figured out, we hope this sweet girl finally gets the life and family she's always dreamed of!!❤❤
Coco would love to be a family dog, she LOVES kids, she's fully house broken and crate trained. She is amazing on leash, loves the car, loves everyone she meets and as if she isn't cute enough already as such a pocket pitty, she snorts so loud!!

🖤🖤🖤 COCO BEAN 🖤🖤🖤 #PCSCoco
Coco came to PCS with the most gut wrenching story you might ever read. She was used as a breeding machine by people who kept her outside 24/7 in a crate. Whether is was freezing or high heat wave temps. They had cut her ears with scissors at home and treated her like garbage. When they were done they discarded her as such and dropped her and Teddy off at the shelter.
Coco and Teddy had a gag worthy smell due to their infection that was all over their body. Bad breeding has caused them to be highly allergic to a yeast their own body creates. 💔 Years later, Coco Bean is still searching for the right people to take her on and love her the way she deserves. She deserves a second chance with a family and a home of her own. #DontForgetCoco
Coco would make a wonderful family dog as she LOVES kids and does well on walks. She would like to be the only dog in the home, won't you let her snort her way into your heart?? 3 years in the rescue is far too long for a dog who loves as hard as Coco 💜 we are looking for that special family to come along and be the hero Coco Bean needs 🖤🖤🖤
The moment these two arrived to us, we opened the car door to the transporter and they both greeted us with full body wags and slobbery kisses.... It simply broke our hearts into a million pieces.
